WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature, by:

My work with WWF: Presently WWF and I are working in collaboration to promote conservation education to the next generation of conservation, as WWF will be making me a celebrity ‘future maker’. In return WWF will assist me with my conservation efforts in Borneo as part of their ‘Heart of Borneo’ conservation project. We will be working together so that animals can remain in the wild.

What WWF does: WWF is a worldwide organization that is involved with conservation across the globe. One specific conservation effort is the ‘heart of Borneo’, which is a large habitat which extends from northeast Borneo on the border of Sabah, Malaysia and Kalimantan, Indonesia a region of conservation priority due to a high level of human activity yet it is some of the worlds most diverse rainforest including rhino, elephants and orangutans. Although there are 11 protected areas in this region, deforestation in the surrounding forests threatens to isolate populations of endangered species. Habitat loss and fragmentation comes largely from a large industrial demand to clear the rainforest whether be for sale of the wood or investing the land for palm oil plantations. Deforestation destroys large amounts of biodiversity and disrupts migration patterns for wildlife in the surrounding areas. WWF has got involved with ‘heart of Borneo’ in an attempt to conserve one of the last remaining frontier forests. WWF aim to help conserve 85,000 square miles of equatorial rainforest through a network of protected areas and sustainably managed forests. This protection will not only benefit wildlife like orangutans, but also help to alleviate poverty by increasing water and food security, and cultural survival for the people of Borneo.

WWF History: Known worldwide by its panda logo, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) leads international efforts to protect endangered species and their habitats. Being an organization for 50 years WWF now successfully works in over 100 countries with nearly 1.2 million members in the US and another 4 million worldwide, WWF is the largest privately financed conservation organization.
